Best of WiMAX World 2008 Finalists Announced

xchange magazine today announced the finalists for the Best of WiMAX World 2008 Awards. The annual awards, presented in six categories, recognize leaders in the development and deployment of WiMAX technologies.

Nominations were open to exhibitors, sponsors and speakers at the WiMAX World 2008 Conference & Expo, to be held Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Chicago, and selected by a judging panel of experts from the WiMAX community.

Finalists in the System Design category are: WiChorus for Mobile Internet Gateway (MIG), ZyXEL Communications for ZyXEL MAX-2200 WiMAX System, and Fujitsu Network Communications and Airspan Networks for the BroadOne WX300/MacroMAXe mobile WiMAX base station developed jointly by the two companies.

Finalists in the Devices/Peripherals/Application Software category are: Motorola for the USBw100, WiMAX 20/20 for the WiROI, and ZTE USA for the TU25 USB WiMAX Dongle Modem.

Finalists in the Industry Innovation category are: Bridgewater Systems for the Over-the-Air Provisioning of subscribers and devices for WiMAX, Ceragon Networks for FibeAirIP-10, and Brand Communications Limited for Apollo Anywhere Seamless Mobility Platform.

Finalists in the Service Provider Deployment category are: Rapid Link Inc. for the Rapid Link network, Towerstream for the New York City network, and Max Telecom for HotMax.

Finalists in the Chip Design category are Altair Semiconductor for the ALT2150, GCT Semiconductor for the GDM7215, and Samsung Electronics for the CMC730-SM.

In addition to being finalists in their five separate categories, all 15 nominees are finalists for the Industry Choice Award. The Industry Choice winner will be determined by online and onsite voting by attendees of the WiMAX World 2008 event.

All winners will be announced during a special presentation on Oct. 1, following the close of the WiMAX World exhibition floor. All winners and their awards will be featured in the December issue of xchange, as well as on the WiMAX World and xchange Web sites.
