Overview

Designed from the ground up

Altair Semiconductor is the world's leading developer of ultra-low power, small footprint and high performance 4G chips for LTE. The company's chipsets are the most mature solutions in the market, offering device manufacturers integrating LTE into their products with a power-optimized, robust and cost-effective solution.

The company was founded in May 2005 by former Texas Instruments executives with extensive broadband and wireless silicon experience.

Altair's products are the smallest, lowest power solutions in the industry.  Based on a novel, proprietary 4G Optimized OFDM Processor (O2P™), Altair’s products offer an unmatched combination of flexibility and performance, with ultra-low power consumption.  Our comprehensive 4G product portfolio includes baseband processors, multi-band RF transceivers for both FDD and TDD bands and a range of reference hardware and product level protocol stack software.

Altair’s management and technology executives were among the founding team of Libit Signal Processing, a fabless chip company acquired by Texas Instruments in 1999 for $365 million.  The company’s world class scientists, algorithm, VLSI and software engineers have, in the past, jointly developed more than 30 complex mixed-signal silicon products, spanning six different broadband wired and wireless technologies.

Altair is privately held and has raised a total of $48 million in three rounds of financing from investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, BRM Capital, ETV Capital, Giza Venture Capital, Jerusalem Venture Partners and Pacific Technology Fund.
