About the Role

Our System Solutions business unit recently launched the world’s first Intelligent Vision Sensor with edge AI processing capabilities that will pave way for new disruptive applications. The European business arm of SSS System Solutions is keen on taking on board a Senior Camera System Lead & Architect who will work cross-functionally with many teams across Sony, to architect IoT hardware and software solutions for camera imaging, embedded AI, machine learning (ML) and computer vision algorithm, with in-depth understanding from system to chip architecture down to block level design details. You will have broad electronics engineering, fundamental physics, optics, and signal processing skills.

About your technical skills

  • Understanding of board design and its constraints
  • Extensive understanding of schematics design and PCB layout routing
  • High proficiency of embedded FW/host SW interaction
  • Expertise in FPGA selection and FW development for image processing
  • Deep understanding of Edge Neural Network
  • Experience in defining camera system specifications to run computer vision algorithms
  • Experience in architecting and designing the following: Camera ISP algorithm, video codecs, and machine learning networks
  • Ability to analyse key performance parameters of different sensor and lens architecture
  • Responsibilities include sensor recommendations, specifying ISP algorithms for single and multi-camera systems using RGB, IR, 3D-depth, and dynamic vision sensors
  • Working with partners to understand camera application requirements, define and optimise the camera user experience based on different applications
  • Specify camera system drivers that interface the HW ISP and system APIs
  • Evaluate image processing algorithms architecture for optimal image quality and performance
  • Mechanical design skill would be added benefit

About your ability

  • You are of a graduate calibre with a PhD or master’s in engineering being your academic background mainly technical in Electronics, Semiconductors or Physics
  • Sharp problem-solving skills and critical thinking
  • Experience of leading a technical team and defining key performance indicators
  • Independence in designing complex systems
  • Strong commitment to going above and beyond to get work done at the highest quality
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Lead and assist internal development teams to create and package the technical documentation of hardware in a clear way for easy-to-use and friendly on-boarding
  • You’re culturally sensitive and able to work remotely and cross functionally using English as the business language – someone who can bring teams together to ensure the best solution is achieved
  • Add to that enthusiasm for technology plus a pragmatic attitude to deliver and you could go a very long way here
