Announcing a partnership to develop a line of multi-band LTE modem products that will support key frequency bands, IPWireless and Altair Semiconductor will create the wireless industry’s first multi-band, multi-mode long term evolution modem.
Ideally developed for global LTE deployments, the modem products will incorporate IPWireless’ LTE devices with Altair’s upgraded radio baseband processor
Supporting bands such as 800MHz digital dividend, 1800 MHz and 2.5 GHz, the new modem products will also support US 700MHz and AWS frequency.
As the mobile broadband community expands and increases in popularity, the mobile industry’s software and hardware services must keep up with the demand. The COO of IP Wireless, Malcom Gordon reinforced the importance of stepping up to the plate to provide cutting-edge products for broadband customers when he stated “Mobile broadband has become a strategic imperative for mobile operators as consumers now expect high-bandwidth applications, such as video and content-rich Internet, to run smoothly on their mobile devices. As such, operators are continually looking at ways to improve this service and increase both capacity and data speeds.”
As more LTE networks deploy around the globe, these new multi-band modem products from IPWireless and Altair will provide “mobile operators and their customers with a high performance, low power solution that will satisfy the needs of consumers.”
Incorporating Altair’s FourGee-3100 baseband and FourGee-6200 RFIC chipsets as well as its own technology, IPWireless’ new LTE device will install a 20MHz MIMO receiver as well as include an O²P Software Defined Radio processor. Using a “custom designed multi-band MIMO antenna that will improve both cell edge and peak rate performance,” the product will incorporate highly sensitized antennae technology and come with several accessories.
